|
DAY 02: FLY TO LEH & ACCLIMATIZE (B, L, D)
|
• |
After an early breakfast transfer for domestic flight to Leh and check in to Ladakhi style hotel. |
• |
Take a rest at the hotel and acclimatize yourself to the high altitudes of Ladakh region (3505m). |
• |
Leh is one of the highest towns in India due to its proximity to the Himalayan mountains. It is crucial for travelers to acclimatize properly to avoid altitude sickness when visiting. |
• |
Evening proceed for a Discovery Tour of Leh. Visit the formidable Leh Palace, the royal residence of the Namgyal Dynasty of Ladakh in 17th century. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan mountains and the town of Leh. |
• |
Stop by “Shanti Stupa” white pagoda, also known as the Peace Pagoda because it was built as a symbol of peace and unity. Visitors often come here not only for its spiritual significance but also to enjoy the picturesque scenery. |
• |
Spend some time at Leh main market and back to hotel. |
• |
Lunch, Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel. |
|
DAY 03: TOUR THE MONASTERIES OF LEH (B, L, D)
|
• |
After an early breakfast, drive to Alchi Monastery but drop by the famous Lamayuru Monastery (the Moonland Monastery) enroute. One of the main attractions of Alchi Monastery is its ancient wall paintings and frescoes. These intricate and beautifully preserved artworks depict various Buddhist deities, scenes from Buddhist mythology, and intricate patterns. |
• |
Head to Bagso & Likir Monasteries. Admire the confluence of Indus – Zanskar Rivers and the effects of Magnetic hill (defiance of the law of gravity). Magnetic Hill is famous for the optical illusion it creates. When you drive or park your vehicle at a specific spot on the road, it appears as if the vehicle is moving uphill against gravity on its own, even when the engine is turned off. This creates an eerie and intriguing experience for visitors. |
• |
Visit Gurudwara Pathar sahib, Hall of Fame and Kali Mata temple and reach Leh in the evening. |
• |
Overnight stay in Leh. |
|
DAY 04: LEH > NUBRA VALLEY (B, L, D)
|
• |
After breakfast, head to Nubra Valley via Khardungla Pass – the world’s highest motorable pass (5359m). The journey to Khardung La offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan mountain range, including the Karakoram Range. On a clear day, visitors can see some of the world's highest peaks, including the peaks of the Zanskar Range and the Sia Kangri Massif. |
• |
Arrive Nubra and proceed for a visit to the white sand dunes at Hunder. These sand dunes are often referred to as "cold deserts" because they are situated at high altitudes in a rain-shadow region, receiving very little rainfall. One of the unique features of the Nubra Valley sand dunes is the presence of Bactrian camels. Visitors can take camel rides (on your own) and enjoy a leisurely stroll amidst the dunes while riding these gentle giants. |
• |
Thereafter proceed to explore Diskit Monastery – one of the oldest and largest monasteries in the region. It provides the view of a picturesque backdrop of desert landscapes and snow-capped mountains. |
• |
Later on, check in at a deluxe camp for overnight stay. You may spend the rest of the day at your leisure. |
|
DAY 05: NUBRA > PANGONG (B, L, D)
|
• |
After an early breakfast check out and head for Pangong Tso via Shyok. Travel time is approximately 5-6 hrs. The Shyok route offers a different perspective of the landscape compared to the more commonly used Leh route. The route follows the Shyok River, a tributary of the Indus River. The road runs along the Shyok River and offers stunning views of the river's rocky terrain and the surrounding mountains. |
• |
