The city is most famous for its delicious local food, yet there is more to the Surabaya than its restaurants. The city is The City of Heroes due to the importance of the Battle of Surabaya in galvanising Indonesian and international support for Indonesian independence during the Indonesian National Revolution.
Mount Bromo is uniquely known because of its volcano inside a volcano. The ultimate attraction and the reason why people travel from far and wide to Mount Bromo is its spectacular sunrise. From a vantage point on the nearby Mount Penanjakan, the sun rises magnificently over majestic Mount Bromo as its center, while the surrounding mountain ranges create an almost surreal atmosphere.
After lunch, continue the drive to Bromo (2-hour).
